First Presbyterian Church Brings Back Its
Tradition of Christmas Day Dinner
Christmas Day Dinner at First Presbyterian Church (215 East Lincoln Avenue, Goshen) is a time to celebrate the birth of the Savior, and to share fun, food, and fellowship with the community. The dinner, in its 22nd year (after a two-year hiatus), is open to anyone from the community — singles, couples, and families. The dinner is served at no cost.
The church doors will open at 12:30 pm on Sunday, December 25. Starting at 1:00 pm, guests will be seated and served a meal of ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry salad, rolls, and pie. Volunteers from First Presbyterian and the Michiana area will serve until 2:30 pm. No reservations are needed for the dinner served at the church. Carry out is also available on Christmas day.
2022 Christmas Day Dinner
After a Covid break (2020/2021), we brought back the sit-down, in-person Christmas Day dinner meal. In its 22nd year, we prepared for 600 and were blessed to serve approximately 300. Options were plentiful as individuals were able to choose a delivery, drive-through carry out, walk-up carry out, or a sit-down meal served on china plates with real silverware.
Sixty volunteers helped make the event a success. Many volunteers came from within our own church family, but also many came from the community to help. We had all ages – young children to retirement and everywhere in between. All had a job and each played a part in offering God’s love to every person entering our doors.
Thank you to the congregation for supporting the Christmas Day dinner with your encouragement, food and monetary donations, and your prayers.
